Armed police have swooped on East Croydon station after a suspect package was found on a train.
The incident unfolded at around 7am this morning, with reports of a "controlled explosion" being carried out by police shortly after 9.30am.
The station has been evacuated
Police have confirmed the station has been evacuated as a precaution while they investigate the incident.
Pictures from the scene show a heavy police presence in the area, with armed officers and police dogs searching the station.
A large cordon is in place
A large cordon is in place around the station, with roads closed and people being advised to avoid the area.
The Croydon Advertiser reports there is a "heavy police presence" and a "sniffer dog" was being used to search a train.
Rail services have been disrupted
The incident has caused significant disruption to rail services in and out of London Bridge.
Southern Rail tweeted: “The station is currently closed whilst a police incident is ongoing. Please use alternative routes if possible.”
